Circa 1984 Hofner 500/1 “Beatle Bass” made from a "Made in West Germany" Hofner kit, extremely rare instrument, these owner-assembled kits were only sold for two years by Hofner. It has a beautiful natural finish, w. period case. Comes with Letter of Authenticity and a Vintage Guitar Magazine article by George Gruhn discussing THIS PARTICULAR BASS!  Brand new set of La Bella flat wounds strings on it, the same as Paul McCartney uses. WAS Asking $2,200, NO LONGER FOR SALE!! Sorry!
Frankly, I don't care if I sell this, as I can easily see myself playing it as I get older, rather than my vintage, heavy 1966 Fender Jazz bass.

I think the person who assembled this kit hired a pro-furniture finisher to do the finish, it's that good!

This guitar is special for a few reasons. First, it plays so beautifully! I played around 25 Les Pauls at a mammoth guitar show over 2 days, so I had to get a hotel room to play them all. THIS one stood tall above all the others. Secondly, it is truly beautiful. Most Les Pauls, to me, have a "harsher" red sunburst color. I like the way Gibson recreated the look of the 1959 Pauls this one is modeled after. Third, this guitar is very collectable and will increase in value over the years, unlike others.
