Mark Weaver - drums and background vocals. Mark was born and raised in Cincinnati, the Clifton area. In his early teens he was fortunate enough to work at the Ludlow Garage, a well-known music venue that hosted many famous bands of that era. It was an enlightening education for Mark! About that time he learned the basics of drumming. He joined the Navy after high school and was a Hospital Corpsman for 20 years (12 years with the USMC.) Mark next worked for 27 years in local and federal government agencies. He picked the drums back up again about 15 years ago, playing with the Cyprus Lake Band for two years before joining The Scallywags.

PLAYING CLASSIC ROCK AND ORIGINAL MUSIC
New: ACOUSTIC SHOW = Lower Volume :
In addition to our normal music offering that entails the use of a PA sound system, stage and floor monitor speakers, etc., The Scallywags are now offering a lower volume ACOUSTIC MUSIC SHOW. At this time we prefer to use microphones and acoustic guitar amplification to get the volume up enough to be heard over normal party conversations. But all guitars will be acoustic, including bass, and drums will be played with rods, much quieter than sticks. Volume levels will be about HALF of what you might expect, making for a more intimate, small party atmosphere. If you require even softer sounds, we can accommodate that too.
SOME OF THE ACOUSTIC SHOW SONGS MIGHT INCLUDE:
Before You Accuse Me Runnin' on Faith

Mike Upchurch - vocals, rhythm guitar, harmonica, songwriting. Mike has spent 60 years playing guitar and singing, fifteen of those years teaching guitar. One of those students is now a bandmate, Scott. Mike enjoyed working with Scott so much, he said for Scott to just come over every Sunday to practice together. They simply clicked. That was seven or eight years ago. The Pandemic slowed their music making but didn't stop it. One day Mike said, "We'd sound better with a bass player and a drummer." Scott agreed, and a week later a band was born. For more info on Mike go to this site's About Us page.
Scott Beliveau- vocals, lead guitar. Scott ("Scooter") began playing guitar at age 15 when he got his first electric guitar. His main influences in music (Doobie Bros., Beatles, Rolling Stones, Joe Cocker, Allman Bros., Van Morrison, The Doors, etc.) came from his father and uncle playing the oldies in their band together. Shortly thereafter, Scott, his brother, and friends formed a band (The Gray Area) which played mostly 60s, 70s, and 80s Rock and Roll. Scott primarily played rhythm guitar. That band took first place in their high school talent contest two years in a row, and soon afterward they started playing small, local shows. The band lasted for around four years.
Scott played guitar off and on for the next 20 years. About 2016-2017 Scott realized how much he missed playing guitar and called Mike to brush up on his guitar skills. After a month or so of lessons, he and Mike started regular Sunday jam sessions and building set lists of their favorites. They were having a blast working together.
